National Tourism Week

National Travel and Tourism week is held annually the first full week of May and is celebrated locally with an event to bring awareness of the importance of tourism in our community.  The Vincennes/Knox County Visitors Bureau is participating in the Indiana Office of Tourism Development’s Visit Indiana Week.  The Indiana Military Museum and Red Skelton Museum are offering discounts during the week to encourage travelers to get out and discover our local attractions during Museum Monday.  Find out more about Visit Indiana Week at visitindiana.com.

The Vincennes/Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau has partnered with the Vincennes/Knox Preservation Foundation, INVin and the Knox County Chamber of Commerce for a Chamber After Hours on Thursday, May 10th.  The event is held in honor of National Travel and Tourism Week and Preservation month.  A guided architecture tour of Main Street will begin at the Knox County Courthouse, proceed down to Main Street and conclude at the Riverwalk with a reception and live music.  Walking tours start at 5pm and 5:30pm and a carriage tour sponsored by Old National Bank will begin at 5:15pm.  The reception will begin at 5:30pm and conclude at 7pm.  Please join us for this event!

Knox County hosted just over a million visitors according to our most recent tourism economic impact study.  Furthermore, the tourism and travel industry contributed $81.1 million to the local economy.
