Get Fit in Knox County

Starting an exercise routine can be scary and intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! Vincennes/Knox County has so many different options for people looking to invest in their physical and mental health.

Fitness Facilities & Yoga

The YMCA of Vincennes, located at 2010 College Avenue, has both a weight and cardio room, as well as two different pools, two full basketball courts, indoor pickleball courts and offer a variety of exercise classes throughout the week for members.

Willow Street’s Anytime Fitness is open 24 hours a day. This location is great for those who have hectic schedules that might not allow them to use a facility with normal business hours.

Planet Fitness is also a 24 hour fitness facility that offers one-on-one training and a variety of weight and cardio equipment all at low monthly rates for their customers.

Vincennes University offers seasonal classes throughout the year, and has a large weights and cardio section.

Elements is a local fitness studio located at 4 North Second Street. Their highly skilled staff teaches classes such as drumming, hot yoga, rowing, and aerial yoga! They’re definitely the spot to go if you’re wanting to spice up your workout routine.

Farmers Market of Historic Vincennes offers free outdoor yoga during the warmer months of the year.

TRY Knox County

Each summer, the Vincennes Parks and Recreation Department hosts the TRY Knox County, which is a triathlon and duathlon. The TRY offers people of all fitness levels a chance to conquer a challenging physical feat, while also giving back to a local not-for-profit organization. This event is open to both men and women, and draws hundreds of residents each year to Gregg Park and Rainbow Beach.

Community Get Fit Challenge

Good Samaritan and the YMCA of Vincennes have recently kicked off their second Community Get Fit Challenge for Knox County. This is a community-wide weight loss challenge. Individuals and teams of four can participate in this 12-week program, from January 4 to March 28. Each participant will receive guidance and information from dietitians, monthly exercise plans developed by certified trainers, helpful tips to promote mental health, and access to free recipes, fitness demonstrations and tips on decreasing stress.

Parks & Walking Trails

Knox County parks offer many opportunities for citizens to get out and walk. The loop around Gregg Park is one of the county’s most popular parks, also featuring a newly added pickleball court. Ouabache Trials Park has miles of walking trails for those who desire to get out and explore nature. If you prefer a riverside view, Vincennes’ Riverwalk is a walking path that connects to the George Rogers Clark National Historical Park and the newly renovated Kimmel Park.
