This Pirogue is on loan from the Indiana State Museum and is housed at the Old French House. Pirogues are traditional dug-out wooden canoes used by the early French fur traders.  Held up by stands on each end and the pirogue sways back and forth to simulate what it was like to travel the rivers of Indiana.  Check out the pirogue at future events hosted by the Vincennes State Historic Sites.

Come to the Northwest Territory Art Guild this Friday May 4th for their First Friday event featuring sign artist, Paul Spangler. Paul paints creative nostagic signs with themes concerning pop culture, music, local history, etc. Other handmade utilitarian and decorative objects by local artists are also available. The event begins at 6pm and runs until 9pm.

The Indiana Military Museum moved the WWII M-4 Sherman Tank to the new location this week. Very exciting stuff is happening at the future site.

Looking out our back door, things are moving right along at the Indiana Military Museum’s future location.  The buildings have been painted and restored; dirt has been moved and leveled out. All of this work is to prepare the location for their future home.  Plan a visit to the new location in late May!
